Vail Lake is a large reservoir of 1,000 acres in western Riverside County, California, located in Temecula on the Temecula Creek and Santa Margarita River watershed approximately 10 miles from Old Town Temecula. It was created in 1948 when the owners of Vail Ranch constructed the 132 foot high Vail Lake Dam, which has been owned and operated by the Rancho California Water District since 1978. The 11,000+ acre property surrounding Vail Lake is privately owned, and recreational access to the lake is privately controlled.

Camp Host Program

Vail Lake Resort welcomes camp hosts! Camp hosts may stay up to three (3) months and are asked to work 25 hours a week in exchange for a camp site during their stay. After 3 months your camp host duties and stay will be up for review by management.

Camp host duties include:

  • Light maintenance
  • Deli assistance
  • Security
  • Guest check in
  • Light housekeeping
  • Office assistance

Rules and Regulations

Park Rules are set forth for the safety and comfort of our guests.

Please make yourself familiar with our rules and regulations to ensure the resort delivers the best experience and utmost safety for all our guests. The person booking the site is responsible for all related fees and charges.

 

Registration Office Hours

Monday - Thursday 9:00AM - 5:00PM
Friday-Saturday 9:00AM - 6:00PM
Sunday 9:00AM - 4:00PM

Check-In

Check-in is after 1:00PM. An early check-in may be arranged at the Reservation Office

Check-Out

Check-out time is 12:00 noon. A late check-out may be arranged at the Reservation Office. Minimum late check out fees apply. If you do not arrange for a late check-out time and do not vacate your site by noon you will be charged an additional day. If your late check-out interferes with another guest checking in, you will be charged a fee of $100.00.

The fee for early check-in and late check-out is $10.00

Guests

The site rent is based on an occupancy of six (6) people or less.

Garbage

There is no garbage collection service available. Please take your garbage to the dumpster.

Quiet Hours

Quiet hours are from 10:30PM to 6:30AM.

Swimming Pools

There are three swimming pools at Vail Lake Resort: a children's swimming pool, a wading pool and an adult swimming pool. Please be aware there is NO LIFEGUARD on duty. Swim at your own risk. A responsible adult MUST accompany all children under the age of 14. All swimming pool users are required to observe posted safety rules.

Absolutely NO RUNNING in the swimming pool area is allowed.

No alcohol or food is allowed in the swimming pool area.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be received two weeks prior to check in time to avoid 50% cancellation fee. The cancellation fee is non-transferrable for a future stay

Holidays

Cancellation Policy - There will be no refunds for reservations canceled less than 30 days before your scheduled arrival.

Minimum Stays:
All Holidays are a two night minimum.

On Wheels: Golf Carts & Rhinos, etc.

Golf carts and Rhinos are allowed for use as transportation on the property, not for "joy riding". You must pay a $10.00 registration fee and provide proof of liability insurance (a Certificate of Liability Insurance) and registration at the time of the check-in. Golf carts and Rhinos must have a Vail Lake Resort pass with the RV Site number clearly visible on the driver's side front window. Driver must hold a valid driver's licence . All vehicles must be properly muffled and must stay on established roadways.

Motorbikes, ATV's, mini bikes and quads are not allowed on the property and OFF ROADING is absolutely prohibited. Violation of this policy will result in a $100 fine. No children under the age of 16 are allowed to drive golf carts and rhinos on the property. Please keep vehicle noise to a minimum during Quiet Hours.

Golf carts may be driven on designated streets only and must have headlights and taillights if operated after dark. Use of gasoline powered golf carts is prohibited during Quiet Hours.

Helmets are mandatory for cycle riders under the age of 16.

Vehicles allowed on paved roads and the dirt road to Goose Neck Bay only.

No electric scooters are allowed.

Any violations of these rules will result in a $100.00 fine.

RV Site Parking

Only one RV and a maximum of two vehicles are allowed in your RV Camp Site. Excess vehicles will have to be parked at the overflow parking in designated areas of the village. ($10.00 visitor pass)

Vail Lake Access

Vail Lake is private and requires a membership, however guests of the RV Resort my purchase a day pass to shoreline fish (catch and release only) or swim. Rates: $10 per day, per person.

Pets

Two (2) pets are allowed per site. Dogs MUST be on leash at all times.

Fires

No bonfires. DCF approced fire pits can be used for ambience and must be at least six inches above the ground, have a cage surround and a solid lid. The fire pits found on the sites are OK to use as well.

Wildlife

Please be advised that we have wonderful wildlife residing in our park. Please be respectful and DO NOT FEED OR PET THESE CRITTERS. Vail Lake will not be resposible under any circumstances for injuries caused by negligence of park rules and regulations regarding wildlife.

Notice

Pursuant to California Civil Code Section 799.20, et scq. a recreational vehicle may be removed from the premises without judicial hearing, after the service of a 72 hour notice, if the occupant who has been in the park for less than 30 days, has either (1) failed to pay for his/her occupancy in the park or (2) fail to comply with the Park's Rules & Regulations.

Liability

All facilities are used at your own risk. Our equipment, apparatus and facilities are furnished solely for the convenience of our registered guests. All persons using such do so at their own risk. The management will not be responsible for accidents, injuries or loss of property by fire, theft, wind or acts of God.

This property is privately owned. The management reserves the right to make site changes when necesary,refuse service to anyone and will not be responsible for accidents, injuries or loss of valuables of any kind. All rules are subject to change.
